Civility in the Classroom - Classroom Management Strategies and Active Learning

Introduction
Purpose

This online tutorial presents information about civility and incivility in the classroom. Methods for encouraging students (even resistant ones!) to be active partners in the learning process, to share the responsibility in the classroom and to reinforce the partnership throughout the term are presented in this online tutorial.

Participants who complete this online tutorial will:

  1. Learn more about the issues related to encouraging civil behaviors in the classroom and/or learning environment.
  2.  Explore and develop a repertoire of classroom management strategies designed to encourage student civil behaviors in the classroom and/or learning environment.
  3. Learn methods for responding to student misbehaviors in the classroom and/or learning environment.
